Be like a duck

Be like a duck.
Calm on the surface,
but always paddling like the dickens.

Leela: We are always bogged by the differences in stand-points of the material world and the spiritual world. You are right from a spiritual angle where the calmness is not only the external, but the internal too.
However, what defines the depth here? How deep is the depth?
Beyond every calmness there exists the zone of activity which is so active that it does not disturb even the deepest inside. The activity could be a thought process, a feeling, an observation.
I like to recount Osho's thought here (though not directly related). He says, when sitting in a crowded noisy road, suddenly switch to the inside. The contrast takes you to the calmest solitude amidst the crowded exterior.
On the contrary, try closing the eyes for a few seconds in a serene, calm environment...
