Human eye

The eye of a human being is a microscope,
which makes the world seem bigger than it really is.

Very meaningful. Actually the real world can be comprehended as so small that its easily available here and now. The world that we see, live and feel is personified and makes it appear that the real world is big (Actually its the illusionary world).

Coming to think of it, the same can be extended the other way as well - the real world is infinite... in that regard, the saying contradicts.

The moment the mind's eye starts seeing something in particular, it is enlarged more than life size. This is the nature of the mind. Any thought brought into focus results in minor details (esp. the flaws) bloating bigger than reality.

By following the mind, one can easily go into the illusionary state where thoughts rule. This is why when we are facing a problem in life, it looks very big and unimaginable. A few years after the problem, when one were to think about even major issues they've crossed, the issues appear meek and one tends to laugh at them.

It has happened to me during my study years, when I was looking for jobs, during troubled times in life.

Same way, one can feel that (s)he is bigger than life when something is achieved or when they are generally happy.
