hmmm.... are you sure Sree. Can we label this as 'ego'. To crave for attention is a human nature. By giving that attention, one may feel ego in them. However, would the recepient be egoistic. Maybe. I'm not sure how to interpret this problem of 'ego'.
Mother Teresa's words are quite absorbing in this case. If we could fight this mental problem of fighting against lovelessness instead of hunger, the world will be a better place.
Hunger is but one need of a human and his inability to find food in the concrete jungle of modern life. By offering it to him, we retard him of his ability to find it himself. Instead if one can teach him or show him the way, then he will die peacefully, not of hunger.

Well "to crave for attention is human and by giving that attention, one may feel ego in them". Well said Madhu.
My point is - the very craving germinates because of the "ego energy". It is the ego-energy that kindles this kind of craving. There are several other cravings like "need for money", "need for food" etc which is pure desire and not kindled by ego-energy.
But the craving for "attention", "respect" (which are also forms of desires) - is all about trying to feel the "Pride" that "I am being recognized" or "I want to be recognized" and in this very statement, the letter "I" stands out. That was my hint.
Very deep analysis indeed. I get the point. I didn't too much importance to the word 'appreciation' in Mother Teresa's quote. I was talking for Love. I agree with you on the hunger for appreciation.
