Need for Worship

So long as man remains free
he strives for nothing so incessantly and
so painfully as to find some one to worship.

Fyodor Dostoevsky

How so painfully true this statement is... I remember my early days of my induction into Hindu religious ways. I was taught to pray when I had problems and get them rectified by God. I've seen my grandparents and parents offering to donate or do something to the temple if they cross a particular landmark.

Maybe Fyodor can label such people as people who are not free. The better part of being religious is people don't carry the heavy baggage of failures and sorrows on their shoulders. Instead they unload it onto the imaginary concept labelled God or a Hero. This could just be a psychological aspect, however it's proven to help a multitude of human existence.

Humans are the only mental species. The mental processes have and impact on our bodies and our lives too. By clearing the mental blocks (though with a temperory reason), one could breathe easy and live free.

Aethists are no exception to this case. They attribute pain and suffering to some bigger reason or power or to scientific doctrines.

To me freedom from negativity feels better than having a egoistic freedom feeling.
