The Wisdom Times
No thought, no reflection, no analysis, no cultivation, no intention; let it settle itself... [Tilopa]
TWIST Comment: Zen aphorisms can be intimidating yet enlightening to the watchful. It's a sort of modern art left to the interpretation of the reader and often influenced by their circumstances. Reading my comment below might give you my views on this, but for a more personal interpretation, try to read the quote and live with it the whole day. Think about it whenever you remember it during the day. It will be wonderful if you can come up to the blog and share you opinion in the comments section.
Man has so many things to do these days. So much work, so much to think about, so many plans to make and so many distractions to keep him away from himself. The modern living has gone corrupt in so many different ways thanks to the way we humans have progressed all this while. But still there are moments when you get to spend time with yourself. Occassions like time alone in the bath, travelling by a crowded train, waiting for your doctor's appointment are some occassions that let us be with ourselves. Either it's too boring outside or too distracting outside so the mind switches back and reflects on what is happening. Nirvana is all about a thoughtless mind. Because from thought comes action and from action comes more thought. Thoughts are not reality. To watch your own thoughts is to reflect upon it and watch what the mind is thinking about. As we do this repeatedly, we end up in a state where nothing else but reflection happens. To watch the reflection happen we unearth another layer of the mind that monitors the reflecting mind. It wakes it or triggers it to watch the thoughts. When the reflection doesn't happen, the monitoring kicks in and reminds - its time to start reflecting. The third layer can go up to an infinite number of layers within the human mind say the wise. In the end, one encounters absolute nirvana, where there are no thoughts anymore. The mind is empty and bliss descends the whole being. To be in this state is ecstacy. To understand this state is something the logical superficial layer of the mind cannot really conceive of.
