[TWIST] Contradiction is natural

The Wisdom Times

A man is never the same for long.
He is continually changing.
He seldom remains the same even for half an hour.

[George Gurdjieff]

TWIST Comment: 'Change' we all know is inevitable. All living beings change as long as they are living. Only death can stop change (maybe) in a living being. As the human mind evolves, it learns new things and perspectives change as new learning is imbibed. This leads to self-contradictions within ourselves and contradictions with the external world. Philosophers have been wary of this fact for long and they tell us that when we see someone contradicting themselves, we need to be compassionate and understand that it's a natural course to be contradicting and growing. There are a lot of personal examples that we can think of in our own lives where we've seen people contradicting themselves including ourselves. This also teaches us one important moral. Do not open your mouth unless you are sure about something, apart from stating what may change in due course. For advanced users, though, silence is a virtue.
