The Wisdom Times
Tsze-Kung asked, "Is there one word which may serve as a rule of practice for all one's life?"
The Master said, "Is not Reciprocity such a word? What you do not want done to yourself, do not do to others"
[Confucius]
TWIST Comment: I first came across this when I was reading Sai Baba books a long time back. There he says: 'Do unto others what you want others to do unto you'. Both these sound like some chance happening ranging from a rare to a fair chance, a person can assume with respect to their interactions with others. We have doubts if this will work and what if the other person is not mature enough to behave in the expected way. The solution to this is... We have control over what we can do, but not necessarily over what others do. There is no magical mantra that could transform the other in our favour. What can really happen (over time) is: as we keep being good to others, they start identifying our sincerity towards them and reciprocate amicably. Situations play a lot of dynamics in such expectations. Hence keep the focus on what you can control and leave the rest to the vast number of combinations and permutations. Worrying about them does not really help. Does it?
