The Wisdom Times
In the practice of tolerance,
one's enemy is the best teacher.
[Dalai Lama]
TWIST Comment: Violence instigated externally creates a lot of turbulance in the external world. In practising ahimsa or tolerance, one would find that the mind is turbulant with an internal violence much different from what one might experience when it happens outside. Unless a person has the strength to withstand this internal flurry of thoughts, it is nearly impossible to stick to it in principle. In nature we see only a 'fight' or 'flight' reaction, however 'tolerance' is a very human way of maintaining mental composure in the face of hardships. It really pushes one to their limits.
